Watching Palin

I'm watching Palin speak right now in Vienna, Ohio.

She looks as if she is about to burst into tears.

The outcome of this election will be frightening if she and McCain are victorious.

She was placed in a position where she was unready for the tasks she was to engage in.

Now, she is being buffeted by questions that she is unable to respond to, and she is wholly unready for this and cannot deal with the outcome or ramifications.

She is like a hurt young girl rather than a Vice Presidential candidate.

She looks as if her head will burst with anger and hate and hurt.

This is closer to the Palin we have heard of in Wasilla and as Governor.

Hutchinson and other candidates would not have responded in this way.

She is clearly not ready for the Presidential status she aspires to and cannot be let to have this position for the sake of the nation. This is not only valid and obviously true, but must be understood by anyone who cares about the future of this nation

She is not only unprepared, but likely to be overwhelmed by the provocations that regularly come to the President and cannot plausibly respond to issues in economic or any other area of substantive policy.

If we blindly stagger into this through the usual gathering at the trough of excitement, we will not only have a potential tragedy in the making, but a final aspect of America consuming itself through its fascination with novelty and short-term thinking in the face of an utterly unprepared holder of the nation's highest office.

Wow..a Professor that is anti-McCain/Palin. How unusual...

Some of our greatest leaders in the past have had little experience.

I guess she just should have answered all the questions with "that answer is above my pay grade" right?

One can't help but wonder what your 'psychological' assessments would have been of any of our pre-media era presidents - say, for example Abraham Lincoln? (not that I am in any way comparing current candidates to Lincoln-we may never see a candidate of his integrity and grit again.) Let's see: Lincoln, complete failure, can't hold a job, unstable wife, .... please fill in the blanks!

If Palin has the experience, let her prove it. Why is she the only candidate in modern history that refuses to take questions or hold a press conference? What is all her talk of "transparency" about when she can't even give the public the courtesy of communicating? This is Bush, Cheney, all over again -

To the earlier comment - Obama writes his own speeches (one of few candidates that has in some time ) http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1837368,00.html?xid=rss-nation and doesn't have to rely on a teleprompter but McCain clearly can't even deliver a short stump without his note cards. So if you are going to attack Obama on something, please be accurate -

"To bad Obama cant communicate with the audience without a teleprompter."

It's "too bad". 2 o's.

brought to you by another liberal who thinks having a brain should be a requirement for the presidency.

Palin is not just inexperienced.... she has no knowledge... She hasn't been reading the newspaper. Her comments last week clearly show that she didn't know what Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae do and how they operate... You have to know about the world to be a good president. Obama has been tested. He went through 47 debates in the primaries. He has been through countless interviews. He has written openly aobut his life. We know that he has the knowledge and the experience and the judgement to do the job. Palin is just chickenshit. Won't do a press conference. That's no pitbull. That is chickenshit.

Too bad Palin does not now have the opportunity to say 'Thanks, but no thanks, John"
