10 Ways in Which Sarah Palin Is Exactly Like George W. Bush

1) Like Bush, she is completely against a woman's right to choose (in fact, she exceeds Bush in that she is against a woman's right to choose even in cases of rape or incest;

2) Like Bush, she opposes stem cell research to prevent fatal diseases in men, women and children;

3) Like Bush, supports the teaching of Creationism alongside Evolution in public schools;

4) Like Bush, does not believe that Global Warming is man made;

5) Like Bush, has supported abstinence-only sex education methods that have proven ineffective;

6) Like Bush, has virtually no foreign policy experience prior to running for national office--(in Palin's case, despite a 72-year old, chronically ill running mate)

7) Like Bush, has engaged in conduct that has resulted in current government investigation of her actions;

8) Like Bush, has made statements which indicate lack of knowledge of basic elements of the office they are running for (Palin, July 2008: "What exactly does the Vice President do everyday?");

9) Like Bush, has been sequestered to prevent her being asked questions that she has not yet been prepared to answer;

10) Like Bush, talks like a reformer--yet in her actions (i.e., relying on lobbying, supporting the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it) acts in the most typical, all-too-familiar fashion.

I am scared to death of a McCain/Palin administration that will set back the country 100 years and probably install the first fascist dictatorship in America. Who knows if WW III is in their agenda to haste the "rapture".

I see your paranoid and anona"worthless" post and raise you one "get real, study your history and read your bible BEFORE you spew your hate" admonition.

The last & most lengthy "anonymous" had better check his/her facts before attempting to 'share' them again in the midst of a very important election. Try factcheck.org, Politico.com, or here's a good one: www.ontheissues.org/2008_FactCheck . Please: don't be hurling out accusations in the absence of verification. This is an important election, for all of us. Get informed for real! *Read* newspapers, news magazines - plural - think, listen.

I was just in a restaurant for lunch. A family of four was there and the baby was screaming and screaming and screaming. The retarded parents didnt do anything about it. I recommend abortion to people like that.

Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others!

Dr. Lipman, thank you for allowing me to counter your conclusions.

1) completely against a woman's right to choose…even in cases of rape or incest
Palin has added the key phrase, "for me". I have yet to find evidence that she would impose that on other women. Evidence that she governs by the Constitution is her veto of a bill written to deny rights to same-sex partners of state employees.

2) opposes stem cell research
Palin is for stem cell research, but against using embryonic stem cells. Discussion of stem cell research without noting the difference between adult cells and embryonic cells is disingenuous.

3) supports the teaching of Creationism
Palin supports it being be discussed in schools. For a well-rounded education, to stifle Creationism in the discussion is akin to not offering art and music.

4) does not believe that Global Warming is man made
Palin has said that man has contributed, but also believes it's a cycle in nature.

5) supported abstinence-only sex education
In a 2006 debate, she stated that she was for discussing contraceptives. She's for not leaving abstinence out of the discussion!

6) no foreign policy experience
Few candidates ever have! In this election, only Biden does. In more recent elections, neither did Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter… George HW Bush had the most.

7) current government investigation of her actions
Ah, the life of a politician. Obama, Biden and McCain have all been investigated in the past. It remains to be seen if Obama will be investigated for the ACORN deal and, more importantly, for voter fraud at the caucuses in more than one state.

8) lack of knowledge of basic elements of the office they are running for "What exactly does the Vice President do everyday?"
This lie speaks volumes about the person who has seen her entire statement (I assume you haven't from the misquote) and still doesn't understand what she was saying. In the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oro2Yh9HoEM her statement begins at the 2:50 mark. Remember, all the media was yakking about the VP's job just being to inquire on the health of the president and attend state functions. When asked about being a possible pick for VP, Palin said: "As for that VP talk all the time, I tell you, I still can't answer that question until, until somebody answers, for me, what is it exactly that the VP does, everyday. I'm used to uh, being very productive and working real hard in administration. We want to make sure that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things we're trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question."

9) sequestered to prevent her being asked questions that she has not yet been prepared to answer
There may be some truth to this, but there's so much more to it. (Most people reading that will twist it toward their political view.) Bush is not one to bother with the slings and bent arrows hurled at him; one could say it's beneath his pay grade. LOL! Palin impresses me as having the same sense of priorities. However, I'd love to hear an "ah, come on" as Obama tends to resort to (his buttons seeminly more easily pushed). After watching a number of older videos of Palin, I don't see any need to hold her back from diving right in -- and the longer they wait, the more contaminated the waters become.

10) talks like a reformer... acts in the most typical, all-too-familiar fashion
That can easily be said about all politicians. But let's compare Palin to Obama on two fronts: doer and reformer. As a doer, overall I've found Obama's motives to be suspect, and even more so by his tendencies to exaggerate and at times rewrite history. On the reformer front, I haven't found where that applies to Obama. In fact, I find his rise through Chicago politics and the Democratic Party to be nothing more than "typical, all-too-familiar fashion". Obama talks about unity, then goes on to utter words that only seek to divide (much like fellow Democrats Pelosi and Reid). He was instrumental in dividing the Democratic Party and did nothing to tend to the wounds that are still fresh for many. That's "change" we don't need. Now compare Palin's rise from city council to mayor of a small town to governor. That's the kind of leadership experience -- from the ground up, not just from books -- that's valued by most Americans. In addition to Palin's proven record as a reformer, her approval ratings go far beyond what most officeholders could only dream about. Hers is a truly story of "one of us" succeeding; like Obama's, but for different reasons.

I became a fan of Obama while listening to his speech at the 2004 DNC and cheered him in his race for the U.S. Senate. I had the "audacity of hope"! When the Primaries began, so did my research. I started to see more clearly as I discovered he has the "audacity of phoniness" -- not because of all the lunatic ramblings on web sites, but by comparing transcripts, videos and his books to his records in the Illinois State Senate and US Senate. While I don't agree with the McCain/Palin ticket on all the issues, they have my trust and therefore my vote.
