"Ready"

John McCain chose the woman below as his Vice Presidential candidate.

He is 72 years old. He has been treated for a very serious illness. Four times.

He says that Sarah Palin is "ready to be President."

We are currently in what may be the most serious economic crisis in American history.

COURIC: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries; allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.

Read the above again.

Carefully.

Palin will no doubt be prepared with crisp, coherent responses for Thursday's debate. However, the above indicates that this is not a mind that is prepared with the breadth and depth of understanding and knowledge to take on the duties of the President of the United States at a time of financial crisis.

Unlike others, do not act on impulse.

Think.

Well, what's really frightening is that people who publicly "speak properly" got us into this mess. Sarah has done well as mayor and governor, so maybe actions really do speak louder than words. Remember Abraham Lincoln: 18 months of schooling.

Remember Abraham Lincoln, and the Gettysburg Address.

I find it interesting that the very person who calls for race wars if Obama loses has a forum given to her for anything. I also am quite offended that Joe Biden rarely gets a mentin for his continued "gaffes" which is a very nice word for major mistakes!

Sarah did well as Mayor? By what standard? She Wasila in debt (even after garnering millions in earmarks from Congress (thanks "Uncle Ted") - oh, yes, she did take a 4k cut in pay as Mayor - but then created the new position of town manager to run Wasila because she couldn't handle the job. the only reason that she has lasted as long as she has as Governor is that inflated oil prices (which means additional revenues for Alaskan state coffers) have made it easy for her. Let oil prices drop and then lets see how long she lasts as Governor (cuz there's no way in hell that the American public is dumb enough to vote for her ans McSame.

..... and yet she was elected to a second term as mayor. As governor, she approved a $1200 energy rebate check to each Alaskan, on top of the approx. $2000 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend that each resident of Alaska has received this year. This money is going to the PEOPLE. She must be doin' something right.

Please-what you see in the Dr's post is important. Our governor has shown an amazing ability to be in the right place at the right time, as well as to take credit for everything except maybe her own actions.
What you hear here , in our governor's responses, is her casting around for a place to connect with the interviewer... she's good at that with everyday people. She can't do it with a relatively disinterested party like a reporter... there's no tag to run with .
As for her actions, the will was in place,BEFORE she became governor, to renegotiate oil royalties and complete a gasline proposal that wasn't tainted by Governor Murkowski. The governor had a bi-partisan majority in the legislature who worked hard with her on both.
The only REAL reform she has spearheaded is to shake up her own party- the Alaskan Republican party- which had gotten so openly corrupt the question wasn't "how could they do this to us?" but " what took so dang long?!" The juries - made up of everyday Alaskans who indicted and convicted some of those corrupt rats have done way more to clear the air here than our governor.
The honeymoon with state voters is drawing to a close- her CRISP and oft repeated "open and transparent government" line is being tested to the hilt as we find out there's a good chance she has conducted state business on unsecure email accounts - bypassing the paper trail required of her. There is an admission that she used email accounts, to do some of her rightfully private policy deliberation with staffers, that were so vulnerable almost any hacker could have gotten in.
There's a bi-partisan investigation into a firing that may or may not have been personally motivated that our governor welcomed originally and now refuses to co-operate with... while she's running around the country trying to convince all America she's fit to serve as Prez if necessary.
Her actions scare me more than her words. Please- do not compare her lack of formal training with Abraham Lincoln... Mr Lincoln spent years and years practising law before he hit the national scene...with all the messy work a regular practice entails- people suing each other for about everything. He got a LOT of practical experience sorting out messes... our governor hasn't.

alaska pi,
All I hear so far are conspiracy theories. She's not on trial for any crimes. Regarding the "independent investigation", the former commissioner of public safety said, "For the record, no one ever said 'fire Wooten'. Not the governor. Not Todd. Not any of the other staff". She was concerned about the trooper (Wooten) who admitted to tasering a kid, supposedly drank in his patrol car, supposedly threatened her family, etc., and DID receive a suspension for his actions. Yet, the commissioner said (on record) that she never asked him to fire Wooten.
What else can I say other than she was elected as mayor twice, elected as governor, and now chosen as a vice presidential running mate. A lot of people like her and think she is doing well.

About Abraham Lincoln's "18 months of schooling:

Back then, 18 months of schooling meant a lot of reading, plenty of reading, writing and rethoric, a lot of discipline, self- restraint, responsibility, and a life where things were very difficult, yet much simpler. Sarah Palin cannot even qualify to those 18 months of schooling, all she does is wink, blink and show how " cute" she is.

Modern beings cannot even write, spell, nor engage in deep, rational debate the way outstanding men like Lincoln did, and someone here has got the nerves to try and compare Lincoln's abilities over Palin's lack of everything? That's low, cheap. Sarah Palin, she's not an Abe Lincoln, she's a Miss Teen South Carolina airhead.
